Cleveland Hopkins International Airport "Time & Space"

By Renowned Cleveland Artist Viktor Schreckengost

The Project

The mural “Time and Space” was created by the renowned artist Viktor Schreckengost. The striking display, featuring a 50-foot panorama of celestial objects is set against a graphic reproduction of the Milky Way. The meticulous mounting of the zodiac signs created an immersive experience, as if the symbols are suspended in the vast expanse of space.

Our Process

This mural artwork was dismantled and stored when the airport underwent renovation. When the pieces were rediscovered and refurbished by art conservators, Impact was then selected by the City of Cleveland Port Control to create a contemporary display for the mural in a place of prominence at the airport’s main interior entrance.

Two vertical didactic panels beneath the mural provided interpretive information about the creation of Time and Space and about the artist. Impact has enriched the viewer’s experience and deepened their understanding of the artwork and its significance. Through meticulous research, thoughtful writing, and innovative design, Impact has ensured that visitors to the airport’s main interior entrance are not only visually captivated by the mural but also intellectually engaged with its history and context.
