Tri-C JazzFest Interactive
Interactive multimedia program
To educate and entertain jazz aficionados and the general public
The Project
Impact was brought in to design and create an interactive multimedia program to highlight the history of Cuyahoga Community College’s internationally renowned JazzFest. The application would celebrate the huge collection of international jazz musicians who played the annual festival during its 40-year history. The interactive program was designed to reside in two 55” touch screen monitors, which allow guests to easily explore the enormous collection of text, art, music, and videos related to JazzFest.
Client
Cuyahoga Community College (also known as Tri-C) was Ohio’s first public community college and remains the largest in the state. Tri-C JazzFest is their annual three-day music festival.
Audience
College students and visitors to the Gill and Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts on the Tri-C metro campus.
Objective
Generate continued interest in the festival, its history, and its future.
Our Process
From start to finish, Impact produced all aspects of this program. On the front end, Impact brainstormed ways to create an appealing approach to share decades of information. We also worked closely with the college architectural team to create an application that complemented their gallery. Once we had those details figured out, we developed the user experience and created wireframes. After we designed all the graphic elements for the application, we moved into programming. Our skilled programmer married all the visual and textual assets and built in the interactive functionality. We also sourced all the technology, oversaw fabrication, and handled installation.
